In-App Copy Lead
Leading the UX messaging on the McDonald’s app came with its own unique opportunities. The ordering process, seasonal campaigns, partnerships, and in-app ordering experiences — all were all given more attention thanks to pandemic living. This allowed us to rethink how to offer a more seamless experience that made enjoying your favorite fast food even easier. Here are a couple of the mobile app campaigns my team and I helped create.
The Mariah Menu
As the undisputed queen of the holidays, we partnered with Mariah Carey to create an in-app experience that celebrated every day leading up to December 25. Customers were gifted with a free daily deal, with the chance to win Mariah merch and concert tickets. UX copy was writen to be quick and concise but still retain the McD’s brand voice with a nod to the Holiday Queen.
Menu Hacks
When ordering, some keep it simple and order right from the menu. But some…some take matters into their own hands and create their own menu item. We took some of the most legendary menu hacks and gave them the spotlight they deserved on the McDonald’s mobile app. Developing our UX copy came with it’s own challenges, since ordering these items came with their own unique instructions on how to create these fan-made masterpieces.
